The minister monitored the activity some three kilometers away from the volcano after its status was raised to alert level on Tuesday.
Mt Bromo has been showing increasing activities in recent days and on Tuesday it spewed ash and hot gases.
Agung on Thursday also inspected Mt Bromo monitoring post at Ngadisari village in Cemorolawang to obtain the latest data on the volcanic activity.
On the occasion the minister said Mt Bromo disaster management should be made properly as earlier as possible in order to avoid its negative impact on the local people`s economy and the tourism sector.
Agung also called on the local people to abide by all policies, made by the local authority concerning the safety range from the volcano, and to evacuate if needed.
Agung said that based on the report he obtained from the local authority, several refugee sites had been prepared as an anticipation of possible disaster.
Mt Bromo has been active since November 8, 2010 and continued to increase until its status was raised to alert level on Tuesday.
