"It has been our obligation to promote the tourism sector in the region. Garuda has the obligation wherever it has a branch office. It should help promote local tourism," he said here on Friday.
Wempie said that he had communicated the matter with tourism operators who were grouped in the associations. Therefore, Garuda always asks for anything that could support West Kalimantan`s tourism such as brochures, pamphlets and the like.
"We have to make use of Garuda for the interest of regional development," Wempie said.
On the occasion, head of West Kalimantan tourism office Yusri Zainuddin expressed hope that Garuda would open new routes which link Pontianak with Kuching (Malaysia) or vice versa.
