Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto made the remark in response to a report that Bambang had rejected the president`s offer.
"I have not yet been informed of it. But we appreciate his stance. There is no problem," he said after the oath-taking of the new attorney general at the State Palace here on Friday.
Djoko said that actually Bambang Widjojanto`s name was not included in the seven names of candidates passing selection for the public prosectors` overseeing job.
The selection team was still seeking two other names which would represent the government to complement the academic and legal observers in the commission, he said.
The appointment of nine names for commission membership would be done soon after they had been proposed by the selection team to the president, Djoko said.
President Yudhoyono on Friday told the press that he had offered Bambang Widjojanto the position of chairman of the Public Prosecutors` Oversight Commission because he had credibility.
"I hope Bambang is willing to lead the commission," Yudhoyono told reporters.
He added: "The Vice President, Cabinet ministers and I have all agreed that anyone who does not acquire the duty [to lead KPK], can lead the Public Prosecutors` Oversight Commission," he said.
Bambang failed to win the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairmanship during a House of Representatives (DPR) Legal Commission plenary on Thursday.
The plenary through a voting mechanism gave most of its votes to Busyro Muqoddas, Bambang`s rival in the KPK chairmanship race.
But Bambang rejected the President`s offer saying that it was unethical to lead the commission while he was once a member of the commission`s selection team.
